In 1955, Nonna Emilia migrated from the region of Calabria in Italy to the small rural town of Mildura in Victoria. She brought with her a treasure trove of traditional handmade recipes, including her signature chilli, lovingly known to the family as "Bippi."
Flash forward 65 years to 2020, when Nonna Emilia’s grandson, Ben, decided it was time to share this cherished family tradition with the world. By capturing the true Italian flavour and using only the finest Australian produce, Bippi was brought to life for a new generation of food lovers. From their iconic Italian-style chilli to hot honey, salsa verde, and more, Bippi delivers bold, fresh flavours handcrafted in Melbourne (Coburg) using the fresh Australian produce.
Today, Bippi’s chilli is handmade in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. The process begins with freshly picked chillies, which are cooked, jarred, and placed on shelves within days to ensure the boldest, freshest flavour. Each batch is quality-tested at our Coburg warehouse, where we take pride in preserving Nonna’s legacy.
